Every year, leading trade publication The Wine Merchant publishes a list of its Top 100 wines. In order to compile this list, judges from independent wine retailers across the country are invited to come and taste a huge selection of potential bottles. To ensure that no biases impact the judging, all bottles are tasted blind with just basic information relating to origin, grape variety and RRP available.

Our judge this year was Managing Director John Chapman, who put his palate through its paces tasting and assessing the first round of wines in the morning before moving on to the top rated wines for the afternoon’s flights.

John said ‘The quality of entries to this year’s Top 100 was excellent, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results. However the best part about taking part in this event has to be the chance to taste alongside your peers and exchange ideas with other indies.’
