For individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making. Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our experienced educators will assist you to develop your analytic tasting abilities through a carefully selected series of 82 wine samples.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>What you\u2019ll learn<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Unit 1<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling<\/li>\n<li>How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world<\/li>\n<li>How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Unit 2<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine\u00ae (SAT)<\/li>\n<li>Tutored tastings of 82 wines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This qualification has a minimum requirement of 84 hours of study time, including 30 hours of classroom time.<\/p>\n<p>Students should note that this is a demanding course and are advised to allow adequate self-study and revision time. A minimum of 60 hours of study time is recommended, in addition to classroom attendance.<\/p>\n<p>It is essential that all 16 classes are attended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper. Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0A mark of 55% is required in both parts to Pass.<\/li>\n<li>An aggregate mark of 65% is a Pass with Merit.<\/li>\n<li>An aggregate mark of 80% is a Pass with Distinction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This qualification is regulated by Ofqual<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entry requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is recommended that you hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits or can demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>The cost includes all study materials, wine and samples, tuition, six ISO tasting glasses,
