{"id":12672,"date":"2023-12-10T09:50:16","date_gmt":"2023-12-10T09:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oxfordwine.co.uk\/owc\/?p=12672"},"modified":"2024-03-14T10:06:38","modified_gmt":"2024-03-14T10:06:38","slug":"grape-expectations-sancerre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oxfordwine.co.uk\/owc\/grape-expectations-sancerre\/","title":{"rendered":"Grape Expectations: Sancerre"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><time class=\"w-post-elm post_date entry-date published\" datetime=\"2023-12-10T09:50:16+00:00\" title=\"10 December 2023 at 09:50:16 Europe\/London\" itemprop=\"datePublished\">2 years ago<\/time><div class=\"w-separator size_medium\"><\/div><h2 class=\"w-post-elm post_title entry-title color_link_inherit\">Grape Expectations: Sancerre<\/h2><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>Continuing on my theme of looking at the world of wine geographically, rather than through the lens of grape varieties, I bring you to the Loire Valley, and more specifically to Sancerre.<\/p>\n<p>Most of you will be familiar with Sancerre Blanc \u2013 a crisp, bracingly fresh expression of Sauvignon Blanc, combining herbaceous grassiness and pithy citrus and a hint of elderflower. White grapes dominate Sancerre to such an extent that my even calling it \u2018Sancerre Blanc\u2019 may sound rather odd.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody ordering a glass of Sancerre expects to be handed a red or ros\u00e9 wine, but these are also produced, albeit in much smaller quantities than the white.
