This has a moderating influence on its climate which, together with its South Island location makes it perfect for cool-climate grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.<\/p>\n<p>Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is notable for its incredibly pungent guava, passion-fruit style, and while many in the wine trade believe this style may have had its day, I can assure them that it is still enormously popular judging by the many pallets of the stuff that leave our warehouse every year!<\/p>\n<p>Kiwi wines are notable for freshness, purity of fruit, and in general excellent quality. I have already mentioned Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but do also look for Riesling, Pinot Gris and traditional method sparkling wines.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>Recommendation: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/shop.oxfordwine.co.uk\/products\/esk-valley-pinot-noir-marlborough\">Esk Valley Pinot Noir, Marlborough<\/a> \u2013 From an OWC favourite producer, this Pinot Noir shows vibrant red cherry notes combined with a warming spice from well-judged oak.
