You\u2019ll learn about production, key labelling terminology and major classifications to help you identify wines with confidence. This course is fantastic CV material for those pursuing a career in Wine or hospitality. For the amateur consumer it will provide invaluable knowledge and expertise \u2013 meaning that you will be able to choose and appreciate wine with confidence!<\/p>\n<p>Successful students will receive a WSET certificate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Covered<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How wine is made<\/li>\n<li>What factors influence wine style<\/li>\n<li>The key white and black grape varieties and their characteristics<\/li>\n<li>The important wine-producing regions of the world in which these grapes are grown<\/li>\n<li>The production of sparkling, sweet and fortified wines<\/li>\n<li>Label terminology<\/li>\n<li>Tutored tastings of 48 wines<\/li>\n<li>How to describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine\u00ae (SAT)<\/li>\n<li>How to make food and wine pairings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Do I need any prior knowledge?<\/b>\u00a0No prior knowledge is required. All classes are delivered in English therefore a good level of English is beneficial. Students completely new to wine and spirits study may wish to complete the Level 1 Award in Wines first. However, this is not essential.<\/p>\n<p><b>Course delivery<\/b> \u2013 This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time, including 16 hours of classroom time. There will be eight classes lasting two hours each on the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Friday will be comprised of revision time in the morning and the examination in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><b>Assessment<\/b> \u2013 Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in one hour. The exam will take place at the end of the course on the afternoon of Friday 17th April.
