One Island, two distilleries. The story of Arran Whisky in its modern form began in 1995 with the opening of the Lochranza Distillery in the north of the island. Since then Arran has gone on to achieve global fame for its rich, fruit forward, unpeated style of whisky.
In 2017 work began on a second distillery, this time in the south of the island and focusing on a heavier, peatier malt. 2022 saw the first bottles released by the Lagg and in 2023 the first two of the distillery’s core range landed on our shelves here at the Oxford Wine Company.
Our host, Mariella Romano, has a wealth of experience in the trade with previous roles at The Whisky Exchange, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society and Elixer Distillers before taking on her current role as Global Brand Ambassador for Isle of Arran Distillers. If there’s something about these drams she doesn’t know, then it’s probably not worth knowing.
