Now Stocking Hundred Hills!

We are delighted to now be stocking Hundred Hills, a local award-winning winery located in Pishill, near Henley-on-Thames, whose wines truly showcase the quality that can be produced in our own backyard!

Owners Stephen and Fiona Duckett spent 3 years searching England for the perfect location with the aim to produce some of the finest English sparkling wines, before settling on Hundred Hills. The steep slopes of the Stonor Valley in the heart of the Chilterns, combined with their free-draining chalk soil proved the perfect combination, and the Ducketts planted in 2014.

Hundred Hills are known for their minimal intervention approach to winemaking, allowing the terroir and grapes to truly express themselves. Their vineyards are carefully split into 10 different parcels, each offering different clones of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as different aspects and soils.

Hundred Hills kindly invited the OWC team for a tour of their vineyards and state-of-the-art winery followed by a delicious lunch where we enthusiastically tasted through their range!

We are stocking four of their wines, all of which can be purchased in store or online.

Hundred Hills Preamble No.2, Oxfordshire 2019 – £39.75 –A  Pinot Noir dominant sparkling wine, blended with Chardonnay added for elegance and finesse. This wine has spent 36 months on the lees, contributing flavours of baked brioche, complemented by flavours of crisp green apple, lemon zest, lime and nectarine.

Hundred Hills Brut Rosé Dreaming Spires, Oxfordshire 2019 – £37.75 – A pale rosé vinified with later harvested Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, offering flavours of ripe strawberry, raspberry and pink grapefruit complemented by peach and cherry. 36 months ageing on lees provides extra depth and finesse.

Hundred Hills Hillside No.3, Oxfordshire 2019– £44.75 – Only made in small quantities, this wine is vinified with later harvested Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, picked on the third pass of their extremely steep south-facing slopes. The extended ripening combined with 30 months on the lees provides richness and complexity. Flavours of lemons, green apple, yellow plums, white blossom and a hint of pineapple, complemented by a creamy texture.

Hundred Hills Rosé de Saignée, Oxfordshire 2021 – £110.00 – A unique, rare approach to rosé winemaking, where the skins are ‘bled off’ creating a deeper, more expressive style. Crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, this gastronomic wine offers notes of rhubarb, cherries, cranberries, pomegranate all wrapped in savoury spice and rose petal. Only 900 bottles were made, and we’re lucky enough to have received a small allocation!
